Olivier Varenne is a Director, Acquisitions and Alliances at MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) in Tasmania, Australia since 2006 as well as International Curator. MONA exhibits works from the David Walsh collection whose contemporary art pieces have been for the vast majority selected by Olivier.


Aside from MONA, Olivier’s projects have included the 3rd Moscow Biennale in 2009 and the “On and On” exhibition on ephemeral art at La Casa Encendida in Madrid in 2010. In 2017, he was co-curator at the “Socle du Monde” Biennale at the HEART (Herning Museum of Contemporary Art) in Herning, Denmark.


Olivier regularly collaborates with internationally renowned artists such as Marina Abramovic, Matthew Barney and Gilbert & George as well as emerging talents such as Oliver Beer, Ryoji Ikeda, Conrad Shawcross and Mathieu Briand and sharing that passion with art lovers, which is why he created MONAD in March 2018.
